RANDOM THURSDAY

I've been working on some random blocks today.  Debbie asked for this block done in low volume.

I think this is my new favourite block. These fabrics were part of a low volume swap I was in last year.
They will come in handy.

I've managed a few more blocks in my Dancing Stars quilt along. I'm officially out of grey solid so production has come to a halt.

The letters I and J of my hexi-bets.  These are fun to do while watching T.V. in the evenings.

That's it for today.

SIMPLY COLOR - A FINISH

The original post about this quilt is here. Now that it's quilted I wanted to show it again, just because.

 This was it in December

and after quilting

I love the texture it has now.

I wish I could take the credit for the lovely free motion quilting but my skills consist of wavy lines and pebbles. Credit goes to Linda. She did little 'explosions' all over.

The backing fabric is a Mary Engelbreit print that I thought was perfect. Binding is a plum solid from the Simply Color line.

I am very very happy with this quilt. Thank you Linda for helping me get this one finished up so it can be used : )

FRIDAY PHOTOS

Progress is being made on my Alphabet Hexagons. So far, there aren't very many pieces in each hexie so they go fast.

This little shelf in my kitchen sure comes in handy. Normally it holds pictures of my children  : )

I made another triple zip pouch. I'm determined to get good at zippers. The bicycles are directional so they are upside down on the back. Oh well.

I am halfway through a charm pack of Honey Honey and am turning them into half square triangles.

Just a little bit more hand sewing and the binding will be done on this quilt. Pictures to follow soon.

Have yourself a lovely week-end.

FEBRUARY SHOW AND TELL

Once again the February Moda and More Club meeting was filled with inspiration.

Also, because I showed them my Scrappy Trip Quilt, I issued the ladies a challenge. I asked them to make just one Scrappy Trip block, and bring it for show and tell. If they like it they can have it back, and make more. If they don't like it, they can leave it with me and I will put them together into a quilt for Hospice.  I'm hoping they will love making them and show up with lots of blocks or a quilt top. At the same time, I'd like to do a charity quilt            : )

I'm excited for next month already!

CONVERGING CORNERS QUILT

Remember this quilt?  It resulted in having lots of leftovers that I figured would be perfect for the Converging Corners quilt first seen over at Film in the Fridge a couple years back.

excuse the greyed out picture

These blocks are easy to piece, but do take a bit more time than a typical block

Worth the time I'd say. It's fun to watch the pattern come together when the corners "converge".

I'm wondering what kind of straight line quilting I can treat this to, so will have to search for inspiration.
Thanks for stopping by today.
Enjoy your weekend  : )

TRIPLE ZIP ------FINALLY

A couple of weeks ago, I pulled these fabrics to try a Triple Zipper Pouch designed by Debbie of A Quilters Table.

I have had a fear of zippers, so I stared at it for a long time. The other day I got together with some ladies and we sewed for the day. I decided to just DO it.

It turned out not too bad! The tutorial is well written and there are lots of pictures to guide you along.

Of course practise makes perfect, so I am going to try another  : )

The little scooters will be the lining for all three pockets.

Happy stitching to you.

DESIGN WALL MONDAY

Progress has been made on my hexagon quilt-a-long. A few more to make, and a few to sew on. Soon it will be time to applique it down to the border. Can't wait.

I made my block for Cindy. She asked for a winged square block.

I also re-made the block for Ella.  She wanted churn dash in citrus colours. I think these two blocks could be quite happy together in a quilt.

I figured out what to do with my leftover jellyroll strips from my last post : )
Converging corners blocks are under construction. Lots more to make but at least I have a plan.

That's it for now.
Enjoy your week.

LOVE LETTERS

Am I the only one who would buy a jellyroll for the 4 red strips in the middle? Somebody tell me I'm not alone. Somebody tell my husband-- I'm not alone!

Those lovely reds in the middle is what I was after and we had no yardage in the red. I thought it was perfect for the little quilt I've had in my head for a long time.

I pieced the letters VERY carefully improv style.  There was no extra for mistakes.

I did pebble quilting around the letters, and straight lines for the rest.

The binding was made from a leftover red piece and the two other strips that had some red in them. I love the little birds on the edge.

Happy Valentines

Now I need to figure out what to do with the other 34 strips I have leftover         : )
